Darkrai revealed!
So it seems that Nintendo has finally revealed information about Pokemon #491, Darkrai, in their recent update to Pokemon.com. The shadow of the mysterious Pokemon has been floating around the site and instilling curiosity in everyone’s minds over the past month or so, but now Nintendo revealed more about Darkrai, all of which can be found on Darkrai.com.

Darkrai will make an appearance in the upcoming Pokemon movie titled The Rise of Darkrai, featuring Dialga, Palkia, and – of course – Darkrai itself. Additionally, Darkrai will be in the newest Pokemon TCG set, Great Encounters, which is to be released on February 13th with Prerelease Tournaments starting on February 2nd. I will have spoilers and scans up February 3rd or 4th showing all of the cards available.

Details on where to obtain Darkrai will be posted as they are revealed. It will more than likely coincide with the movie’s release, similarly to how it was in Japan.

“Diamond Dust” in Snowpoint City, January 12th.
Well, as of right now, it doesn’t look like there was anything ground-breaking regarding the special happening on the 12th, but if you go to Snowpoint City on January 12th, the snow falling turns to shimmering icy kind of stuff. I’ve heard the term “Diamond Dust” being used to describe it.

Go on and check it out for yourself on your Diamond or Pearl game, if you have it!

Even though tomorrow (or later today, really) is a Saturday, I’ll still try and take some pictures and maybe even a video of the event, as well as post anything else I hear about it.

Happy Birthday, Junichi Masuda!

Special Event to happen on the 12th in D/P?
Apparently, Junichi Masuda, Board Member of GameFreak, has hinted in his blog about something special happening on the 12th of January in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.

“Please play Pokemon Diamond / Pearl on January 12th.
You’ll find something different!!!!!”

What is meant by this is unknown as of right now, as is whether it will work on the English version of the game or just the Japanese version, but it is still causing some intrigue over what’s to happen.

Be sure to post a comment on this post come the 12th (or when more information is available), when whatever this mystery is reveals itself!

Status Update on Retro Pokedex and Polls
Well, first off, it looks like the settings for the polls rotate them every Wednesday instead of every Tuesday like I had originally hoped, so… they’ll be rotated out every Wednesday now instead!

Anyway, nothing really tangible to report for today. Progress has been made trying to build the database for the Retro Pokedex. In turn, it’ll wind up benefiting the Diamond and Pearl Pokedex as well.

Would anyone happen to have the location data for R/B/Y, G/S/C, and R/S/E/FR/LG available? Or a link of where that information is easily available for download and import into a database? Obviously, I do not want to steal data from other sources. Credit is fine. But I do know all of this data is readily available from the game’s data. Hmmm… Please do post a comment if you’ve got any ideas, because I lack well-catalogued location data for the older generations.

That’s all for today. More work on the Retro Pokedex shall take place tomorrow.
